Bighearted Scotland

The Bighearted Scotland Charitable Trust was formed in 1994 when a group of charities decided to work together to raise funds for their individual causes.

Bighearted Scotland currently consists of six charities: Momentum, Epilepsy Scotland, Alcohol Focus Scotland, CLIC Sargent, Penumbra and Scottish Native Woods.

By supporting Bighearted Scotland, your donation works by helping a wide range of good causes for both children and adults with a range of issues including epilepsy, special needs, exclusion, disability, cancer, mental health and alcohol problems while also promoting environmental awareness and sensible drinking.

Bighearted Scotland has grown to be the leading charity partnership in Scotland. To date we have raised over £1 million to help thousands of children, teenagers and adults receive the best possible care and support that they need to achieve their potential and live happy and fulfilled lives.

Donate to Bighearted Scotland through your payroll

Payroll Giving or Give as you Earn is a way for you to make regular payments to charity directly from your pay, tax-free. Each time you are paid, a donation amount of your choice is deducted by your payroll department before tax is calculated.

How it works
Donations are deducted before tax so each £1 you give will only cost you 80p.

For example, if you are a basic rate tax payer:

-You donate £5
-You actually only pay £4
-The taxman will add £1 (at no extra cost to you)
-Bighearted Scotland will receive £5

If you are a higher rate taxpayer then it will cost you even less to donate £5.

Some employers offer a 'matched giving' scheme whereby they match or double your gift at no extra cost to you. It's always worthwhile checking to see if your employer operates a scheme like this as your donation will go so much further.

How do I donate?
Check with your payroll department to see if they offer this scheme, fill in the paperwork and start giving.

If your company does not operate a scheme, call us on 0141 427 4911 for more details on how to give.

Payroll Giving makes a huge difference to the work of all six charities that make up Bighearted Scotland. Thank you for your support.
