Intrepid mountain-bikers, Ciaran Dreelan and Trish Craig, have now completed one of the greatest adventures of their lives. The link will take you to their website and allow you to contribute to their sponsorship total.
They are well on their way to exceeding their target of £10,000 to be shared between Momentum in Scotland and Headway in Ireland. Indeed they believe they have raised a magnificent £20,000! They have excelled themselves in securing both corporate and community sponsorship.
The pair set off on 17th June, and arrived in Ferns on the 29th June - they cycled on average eight hours per day! They cycled from Aberdeen, the 'Granite City', to the beautiful village of Ferns, County Wexford in Ireland's 'Sunny South East' - in excess of 1000km in total.
Armed with a good map, compass and first aid kit, our two heroes travelled via minor roads, narrow lanes, forest tracks, mountain tracks and possibly a mountain range or two - virtually off-road the entire journey.
They anticipated countless punctures, bent forks, broken spokes, buckled rims, not to mention bruised bodies, battered limbs and bike-seat bottoms as they embarked on the trip loaded down with their essentials and no roadside support. But we are happy to report they are none the worse for their experience.
Our two champions are not undertaking this challenge just to satisfy their wanton desire for pain. Ciaran and Trish have been working incredibly hard to secure sponsorship, the proceeds of which go to Momentum Scotland and Headway Ireland - to support their work with people with brain injuries. Both Ciaran and Trish have close associations with these charities following illnesses to close family and friends.
MOMENTUM SAYS THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS AMAZING EFFORT!
