Dragon Boat Racing originated in China over 2000 years ago, and on Sunday 25th July, 2010, it will reach the exotic environs of Edgbaston Reservoir in Birmingham.
We're looking for a minimum of 15 teams of 10 people to take part and to race each other to the finish line. So if you have a secret ambition to be the next Steve Redgrave and row your team to the victory rostrum, welcome aboard! Or maybe you fancy yourself as a drummer, beating a winning rhythm for the oarsman to pull to? And of course, we'll need lots of cheering supporters to spur everyone on.
In addition to the Dragon Boat Race event, this is also an exciting family fun day out with picnic areas, bouncy castles, face painting and stalls, as well as a variety of other activities.
How do I sign up?
1) Download and complete the entry form below and return with a deposit of £100 (total cost per boat is £400/£40 per person). The balance of £300 can be paid at anytime, but has to be paid prior to the team's first race on the day.
2) In order to raise much needed funds for the centre we are asking for each team to raise £300 or more in sponsorship money - that's just £30 per person! Every penny of your sponsorship raised goes directly to our Midlands Brain Injury Centre.
So why not get together with your family, friends or colleagues and take part in this unique event? Perhaps your organisation would even like to sponsor a team/boat?
All equipment, including safety equipment, will be provided by the event organisers and full instructions and practice will be available on the day. All teams will have a minimum of three races. The fastest teams will then compete in semi-finals and a final.
