One person every 30 seconds sustains a head injury in the UK.
-
In Scotland around 16,500 adults withstand a head injury each year, most commonly in road accidents, but also in falls, assaults, strokes, haemorrhages or sporting accidents.
-
Survivors of serious head injury can have multiple problems: physical, mental, emotional, behavioural, social and economic. Their quality of life and behaviour may change dramatically, impacting not only on those who have been injured but also on their families and carers.
-
Momentum's brain injury services assist people to live independently following brain injury and to manage the effects of their injury. The organisation also assists people to move towards employment or further education/training, focusing on what they can do and supports them as they return to work.
For further information see our Brain Injury Services section.
