OPEL

Momentum's OPEL programme assists people with a learning disability to achieve their dreams and aspirations specifically within the employment field.  The programme has three main aims:

  • to provide training in work-related skills
  • to assist people to become work-ready
  • to support people on entering the employment market, giving them a strong chance of sustaining this employment status.

OPEL delivers a tailored, holistic programme, which allows individuals to set their own goals and to explore the vocational and educational activities which interest them. Service users are supported at all stages and assisted to make positive decisions concerning their future.

Staff work closely with local employers who offer vocational opportunities such as catering, retail, warehousing and landscape gardening and all work placements and educational activities are geared towards making service users ready for the employment market.  OPEL stands for "Opportunities for Progression through Employment and Learning" and is supported by South Lanarkshire Council.
