Through the use of assistive technologies, Momentum's Adapt and Assist programme makes Information Communication Technology (I.C.T) accessible to people with wide-ranging disabilities.
Adapt & Assist supports people who are returning home after a long stay in hospital due to spinal cord injury or those with other disabilities to gain the skills and confidence that they need to access computers.
The service is available to people throughout Scotland and individuals are offered support in their own homes by volunteers from their community who are trained by Momentum in the use of assistive technology.
Momentum also has a top-of-the-range assistive technology suite at its centre in Glasgow which features a range of high-end equipment from eye and head response technology to screen-reading and magnification software. Momentum can adapt and tailor its technology to fit the person's specific needs.
Adapt and Assist encourages service users to make use of leisure, communication, training, and education opportunities. It also offers support in returning to the job market, if appropriate. Support can be given to people already in employment or those who are thinking of moving into work.
